2026年版東京の国際交流イベントの選び方

国際交流イベントは東京にたくさんあります。でも、楽しかったのに誰とも繋がらなかった、思っていた雰囲気と違った、という声もよく聞きます。選び方のコツをまとめました。
Tokyo has lots of international events. Some are great; some leave you with nothing but a drink receipt. Here's how to choose.

イベントの種類The main types

Language exchange nights

Half the room speaks English, half Japanese. Structured ones (switching partners) make it easy to talk to lots of people. How they work.

Hobby and activity groups

Hiking, board games, running, cooking. You do something together, so conversation comes naturally. Often the best for actual friendships.

International parties

Bars or clubs full of people. Fun for a night out, but loud and hard to follow up.

Volunteer and community events

Local festivals, clean-ups, support groups for newcomers. Meaningful, and you meet people who care about the same things.

良いイベントの見分け方Signs of a good event

  1. It runs regularly. A weekly or monthly event means you'll see the same faces again, which is how friendships start.
  2. It's small to medium. 10 to 30 people is the sweet spot. Big parties make real conversations hard.
  3. There's a clear activity or structure. A game, a hike, or partner rotations beat "just mingle".
  4. Recent, real reviews or photos. Look for events where past attendees mention meeting people, not just the venue.
  5. A balanced mix. Ideally similar numbers of Japanese and international attendees.

その後が大事After the event

The event is just the introduction. Within a few days, message the one or two people you clicked with and suggest a specific plan: "Coffee near Shibuya on Saturday?" That's where an event turns into a friend. More friendship tips.
